Convergence
Scheme a new scheme was conceived jointly by UGC, IGNOU, Open and Distance
Learning system Council and AICTE under the guidance of the ministry
of Human Resources Development, a synergy of ODL and Conventional Systems which
was formally as the scheme on Convergence of Open and Distance learning and Conventional systems in Nov. 2007 which became operational in March 2008.
The Scheme is titled "Convergence Scheme". IGNOU Convergence Scheme converges the best of Open and Distance Learning systems(ODL) and Conventional Educational Systems. The objective of the scheme is to achieve the targets set out in the Eleventh Plan Document for Higher Education, and focussing on access and equity issues.
The Scheme ,jointly conceived by University Grants Commission(UGC), Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Distance Education Council(DEC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) under the guidance of the Ministry of Human Resources Development , aims to focus on enchancing the quality and quanyity of education delivery in the context of social dimensions of the country, with a thrust on capacity buliding and strengthening of the conventional university and collegiate education system.
